Strategize
User Focused: Chinen & Arinaga has deep roots in the educational community of Hawaii; many of their clients are teachers and educators who use computers only on occasion. As a relationship-based culture, Hawaiians are highly reliant on personal references. The website was built to focus on the intention of the two main user types. Potential clients are most likely referred to the site by a friend or family member and look for general information and personal touches. Use cases for the existing clientelle are to get contact information for their financial services representative and possibly check out an upcoming event.
Regulatory Requirements: As a financial institution, Chinen & Arinaga is subject to a number of regulatory requirements and must be very careful in how they represent themselves. We had to make sure to meet the requirements but not scare off the audience.
Conceptualize
Centered in Ohana: Chinen & Arinaga is a financial institution in Hawaii with strong family-focused values. We used warm colors and imagery to bring an Ohana (Hawaiian for "family") feel and updated the copy to satisfy regulatory requirements but bring a human touch.
Execute
Financially Sound: As a small business, updated branding and a brand new website can be an expensive investment. It was important for us to not over-engineer the site and keep its longevity in mind.
Measure
Cost-Effective Analytics: It was important for Chinen & Arinaga to have insight on how different marketing initiatives were affecting the traffic on their site but being a small business, it simply wasn't feasible to over-do it. By integrating Google Analytics on their site, the C&A team has just the insight they need without unnecessary expense.
Maintain
Teachers Can Do: We set up the site so that the staff of Chinen & Arinaga, which includes a few retired teachers, can update the site with ease. Updating the news and events pages and even adding pages for new members of their team. The old adage, "those who can't do teach" doesn't apply here.
