Strategize

The Windows 7 team wanted a game to demonstrate the new phone's data connection and sensor capabilities. They wanted a game that was simple, attractive, and fun! Plexipixel helped design the UI and sounds for the new free game.

Conceptualize

The game functionality and mechanics were already locked down, so it was up to us to make it look good. After all, nobody wants to eat a cake with gray frosting. Plexipixel worked with the Windows phone 7 team to create the look and feel of the game as well as branding, including some pretty nifty special effects. We also worked directly with our good friend Joel Day on sound design, to create effects that match up nicely with the look and feel.

Execute

We wanted to create some fancy drop-shadow and blur effects, but those weren't available with Silverlight for the Windows Phone. So, we had to come up with some creative solutions using XAML and Blend to make them look as polished as possible! We created a design that was simple, agile, and easy to use and understand. It was a huge learning experience, but a lot of fun!

Measure

Windows 7 Phone users can download the game for free and play forever (or until their battery dies). In its first week live the game had received an average 4.5 star rating (out of 5) and was ranked #9 in the Marketplace for Free Apps!
